Call for Nominations:
CET Executive-in-Residence Program
sponsored by Foundation Capital
The College of Engineering’s Center for Entrepreneurship & Technology (CET) is seeking nominations for its executive-in-residence (EIR) program. The EIR program is critical to the CET’s mission to equip engineers and scientists with the skills to lead, innovate, and commercialize technology in the global economy. The Foundation Capital program currently has four executives in residence.
The EIR program’s goals are as follows:
- To provide candid feedback to researchers working on commercializible projects
- To help maximize the impact of such research by focusing on its commercialization potential
- To give researchers independent consultation on forming early-stage companies.
To accomplish these goals, EIRs
- Investigate UC Berkeley research projects
- Work collaboratively with research faculty
- Lead student teams to develop entrepreneurial or industrial projects
- Guest lecture in classes
- Audit new courses and seminars and provide input
- Participate in CET’s programs
EIRs receive office space within Berkeley’s College of Engineering, access to library resources, business cards, on-campus network access, and other campus benefits.
Eligibility
Candidates should have world-class leadership experience in creating technology businesses as well as domain expertise within a growth area such as information technology, biomedical instrumentation, healthcare, energy, or business services. EIRs are required to be on the UC Berkeley campus at least one day a week.
Nominating Process
In the subject line of an e-mail, place “CET Executive in Residence: (Nominee’s Name/Affiliation)” In the body of your message, provide an explanation of the nominee’s accomplishments and why you think he/she would make an excellent executive in residence. Attach the candidate’s CV to the e-mail.
