Best Paper Presentation Award: Professor Sidhu and Sutardja Center Team, Lavian and Howell, win Best Paper Presentation Award at IEEE/ICE International Technology Management Conference, Belfast Ireland, June 22-24, 2015 for “R&D Models for Advanced Development & Corporate Research, Understanding Six Models of Advanced R&D” .

This paper presented in Ireland came out of a question from a number of SCET’s partner firms who asked the question how to measure the results of advanced development and corporate innovation.  While product development is shorter in timescale and the processes are well understood,  the same is not true for advanced development.  And the process is further complicated by open source trends as well as the emergence of corporate incubators.  The study identifies 6 models that leading firms use to measure, justify, and budget for advanced work.
