Biography

Aneel Bhusri holds an MBA from Stanford University and a bachelor of science and arts in electrical engineering and economics from Brown University.

After graduating from college as magna cum laude, Bhusri joined Morgan Stanley as a Corporate Finance Analyst in New York for several years. He then went off to business school, and during the summer between his first and second years he worked at Norwest Venture Partners for George Still, who happened to be on the Board of PeopleSoft. He became a mentor to Bhusri and when Bhusri was coming out of business school, Still encouraged him to go see Dave Duffield, who of course was the CEO and founder of PeopleSoft. So in 1993, Bhusri joined a small little HR software company called PeopleSoft.

At PeopleSoft, he was responsible for developing and guiding all product strategy, as well as corporate and product marketing. He also led the company's business development efforts in key areas such as new product development, vertical market initiatives and corporate expansion. By 1999, PeopleSoft grew to a size where Bhusri no longer felt comfortable serving as part of the executive management team. He felt that the value he had brought to PeopleSoft had to do with strategy and products, innovation and creativity, but these were things the company no longer needed at that time.

That same year, Bhusri joined Greylock from PeopleSoft, where he had been named vice chairman after several years as the company's senior vice president. Greylock has a strong track record of working with entrepreneurs to create market-leading companies in both enterprise and consumer markets. On the enterprise side, they invest in software, systems and services companies. Greylock is particularly active in enterprise software and infrastructure including security and storage. They are also active in semiconductor and EDA companies. On the consumer/Internet side, they focus on high-value sectors where large groups of consumers have unfulfilled needs. In all these areas, they bring unparalleled experience and perspective to the current and future portfolio companies.

Bhusri currently serves on the Boards of: Above All Software, PolyServe, Cape Clear, Data Domain, Outlooksoft, Trusted Data, and Workday. He also represents Greylock's investments in Symphoniq and Unicru. In addition to PeopleSoft, Bhusri formerly served on the boards of Corio (acquired by IBM), Marimba (acquired by BMC Software), Perfigo (acquired by Cisco), SeeBeyond, (acquired by Sun Microsystems) and Vantive (acquired by PeopleSoft). When he is not too busy with his job responsibilities, Bhusri is also actively involved in the protection of endangered species and is currently a resident of San Francisco, California.
